Last nights GOP debate would have been hysterically funny if it wasn’t for the fact that there was a national debate of people who don’t “believe” in science, evolution or using accurate statistics when attempting to show the country which candidate is better suited lead the United States of America. Rick Perry, or as I see him, W. on steroids claims that because, 2% of scientists (paid by energy corporations) dispute the evidence that climate change is in fact caused by human activity would instill a moratorium on all regulations. Ron Paul wants to ban minimum wage which most of the candidates would agree with in fact, Michelle Bachmann once said in 2009, “If we took away the minimum wage — if conceivably it was gone — we could potentially virtually wipe out unemployment completely because we would be able to offer jobs at whatever level.” What? Really? Minimum Wage is apparently the “job killer” and the reason we can’t get our economy on track again. Rick Perry claims that his leadership is why Texas has claimed two-thirds of the jobs created since the stimulus package, but failed to mention that due to his leadership, Texas leads the way in States with the most uninsured and the jobs created pay minimum wage. They also failed to mention that Perry received C’s and D’s in his college economics classes.
This is the front-runner? The same guy that held a “prayer-a-palooza” in Texas which allowed Christians to meet at a football stadium in order to pray their way into an economic recovery? This of course is coming from people out of touch with reality who more than likely have never lived under the poverty line in the United States of America or have held a minimum wage job.
Minimum wage in this country by federal standard amounts to a meer $7.25 per hour. Working 40 hours a week for 52 weeks (that is one year for you Tea Baggers) a minimum age worker will earn an average of $12,818 which is $1,928 over the United States poverty line If they don’t miss a single day of work and get paid for every national holiday! Did I mention that this person will also pay an average of $2,000 more in taxes than Bank Of America or Exxon Mobile who actually received six figure refunds!
Unforgettably the media really fails the American people during these debates. I would love to see a fact check on the statistics that the candidates use during the debates. Wouldn’t it be nice to see which candidate used disinformation for political gain during the debate Family Feud style with a buzzer? The American people would be better off turning the debate into a drinking game, taking a shot every time one of the candidates avoids a question or the moderator uses the disinformation buzzer than they would mindlessly absorbing their agenda driven rhetoric.
